Why we’re in business
It was 2021 and I was 21. First, I had the idea to build my own cloud infrastructure, in my research to find my first client, one of them was particularly blown away by the quality and price of my services and just like that, it was the beginning of a long and inspiring friendship.
We spent the summer developing ideas for services that nobody offers in Quebec and in the process learned how to do the engineering and architecture behind the cloud that everybody loves and uses (by the way the cloud is real, it's just somebody else computers).
One day while enjoying our coffee we got to talking about AWS and how we could be the local new AWS and just like that KeepSec was born, the name came from another idea I had for a startup in cybersecurity, it stands for Keep Secure.
Almost every time you needed a Linux server or an open-source web application time and resources was needed to deploy it. Our solution was to cut that and make it so that with just a few clicks had access to a Linux server or any open-source application!
Every time I heard that companies were paying a premium fee for their servers and applications it made me really frustrated that their entity exploited someone else lack of knowledge to make money, it didn’t seem fair or right. So we wanted to offer with our servers a vast choice of one-click install web applications for every general tasks in a business that anybody who doesn’t have any knowledge in IT would be able to deploy. Here's an example: someone was using the paid version of Zoom. We informed him that we had something similar, called Jitsi, which offers similar features at no cost and performs even better! He agreed, and as a result, he became one of our first clients.
